I am speaking with royalty!
Alas, it's not newly single Prince William, but who wants to be his rebound girl, anyway?

OK, I do, but I digress.
I'm on the phone with former Farmington Hills resident Peter Soronen, King of the Corset -- and designer to many celebs, including Sarah Jessica Parker! -- and he's telling me about his long-time love affair.
"The reason I fell in love with the corset," he says, "is there's really no way to get that foundation and that shape of the body without it.
"It gives kind of a nice, mature shape."
Over the years, the corset has become Soronen's design signature and he's worked it into cocktail dresses and evening gowns, including those that appeared in his first fashion show in February.
Soronen, who is 40 and now based in New York, will hold court (sorry, couldn't resist the bad pun) in Birmingham Thursday through Saturday as part of that city's three-day Fashion Week celebration.
More specifically, he'll be conducting a trunk show and taking orders for fall arrivals at Tender, the ultra-high-end women's clothing store -- go ahead, stop by, it doesn't cost anything to see the king -- located at 271 W. Maple, 248-258-0212
About 30 stores throughout downtown Birmingham are scheduled to have open houses, trunk shows and in some cases, meet-and-greets with designers.
Most stores will be open 10 a.m. -- 8 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. -- 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday .
